Expect Greatness, Settle for Nothing Less

Midland City Council Deserves Lower Taxes, safe neighborhoods, better roads and full transparency.

Meet John Burkholder —

John Burkholder was born in Pecos, TX in 1977. He moved around frequently in his early years until planting roots in Midland in 1990. While attending college John went to work for a local fortune 500 company that propelled his knowledge of leadership skills and successful business management practices. John served in several key leadership roles around the state and managed and mentored several hundreds of people during that time.

In 2012 John left the retail industry and entered the oil and gas industry. John quickly found success as senior leadership by applying his understanding of business models and creating a new standard of operational efficiencies. John has been involved in several areas of the upstream and midstream sectors giving him a wide range of industry knowledge.

In 2017, Oilfield and midstream activity increased substantially in Ward County where the Burkholder Ranch resides. The Burkholder family migrated to Barstow, Texas over 100 years ago and was active in ranching and farming during most of those years. Using his experience in the oil and gas industry and leadership background, John took over the operational duties of his family’s ranch in Ward County where he currently serves as President of Burkholder Holdings L.P. John began working with local ranchers to build a support network which eventually led to the creation of the water sourcing company Ranch Water Resources where he currently serves as a Director. John became more publicly involved when his neighborhood was faced with growth that was unsafe and potentially damaging to his community.

John co-created and led a group called Responsible Growth Midland to advocate for safer road conditions, infrastructure changes, and awareness of the issues. John recognized that he wanted to educate himself more and joined Midland 101 to learn about all aspects of the city and how it works. John was appointed to the planning and zoning board in 2023 where his knowledge of the inner workings of the city has grown even further. John has been married to his wife for 15 years and has 3 wonderful children. John enjoys spending time with his family, serving at church where he teaches small group 4th grade boys, and teaching and performing Tae Kwon Do at Midland Martial Arts.
